The Bible is not merely a bland background or a lace cap for scientific discovery. It is the glorious authority for life itself. It not only sets forth the only hope of our redemption and life eternal through Jesus Christ, crucified and risen; it is the glorious manual and guide book of our daily lives.
Doubtless it has been the work of our enemy, Satan, to further the idea that the Bible is now only a feeble supplement to modern living, a soothing syrup for those who cannot afford antibiotics, a second class narcotic for those who are too poor, too old, or too ignorant to have anything better!

Lack of this experience has caused such brilliantly educated but floundering men as the Unitarian, David Starr Jordan, to describe Biblical theology as “systematized ignorance.”
